Franz Koglmann

Biography

Viennese trumpeter, flugelhornist and composer whose Monoblue Quartet and Pipetet blend West Coast cool jazz, in the line of *Chet Baker*, with Viennese modernism. Koglmann's writing pairs exact, delicate composition with open improvisation; his many collaborators have included *Steve Lacy*, *Paul Bley* and the Austrian writer Gert Jonke. He has been a fixture of the European jazz scene since the 1970s.
