Biography
Garland Jeffreys is a Brooklyn-born singer-songwriter whose work crosses rock, soul, reggae and blues and often confronts race and urban life directly. After Grinder's Switch and a solo debut in 1973, he made his name with 'Ghost Writer' (1977) and its anthem 'Wild in the Streets', followed by 'Escape Artist' (1981) and 'Don't Call Me Buckwheat' (1992). A late run of albums on his own #Luna Park# label closed with '14 Steps to Harlem' (2017).
