Biography
Gastr del Sol were an American post-rock band based in Chicago, formed by David Grubbs after the end of *Bastro*. From 1994 the group was essentially a duo of Grubbs and Jim O'Rourke, working with a changing cast of guests on albums that moved from atonal guitar pieces and musique concrète towards the chamber pop of 'Camoufleur' in 1998. Their records, mostly released by #Drag City#, made them one of the defining acts of 1990s post-rock.
