British folk rock band formed in Maidenhead, Berkshire, in 1967. Heron's classic line-up of Roy Apps, Tony Pook, G.T. Moore and Steve Jones recorded both of its early albums outdoors for #Dawn Records#: 'Heron' in a Berkshire field in 1970 and the double album 'Twice as Nice & Half the Price' in Devon in 1971. The group split in 1972 and later reunited sporadically, returning with albums such as 'River of Fortune' and 'Simple As One Two Three'.
