Hum

Biography

Hailing from Champaign, Illinois, *Hum* is a seminal alternative rock band known for their massive, "wall of sound" guitar textures and ethereal melodies. Often associated with the space rock and shoegaze movements, the group achieved mainstream success in the mid-1990s with their breakout single "Stars" from the acclaimed album "You'd Prefer an Astronaut". Led by *Matt Talbott*, the band’s music blends heavy, rhythmic riffs with atmospheric, introspective lyrics. Despite a long hiatus following the release of "Downward Is Heavenward", *Hum* maintained a dedicated cult following, eventually returning in 2020 with the surprise release of the critically lauded "Inlet", solidifying their legacy as masters of sonic depth.
