Jason Sharp

Biography

Jason Sharp is a Montreal based Canadian saxophonist and composer working with baritone and bass saxophones, breath, heartbeat and custom electronics. A mainstay of the city's avant-jazz and improv community, he developed a solo practice in which heart monitors and amplified breath trigger analogue drums, samples and modular synthesis in real time. His albums for #Constellation Records#, 'A Boat Upon Its Blood', 'Stand Above the Streams' and 'The Turning Centre of a Still World', document that method across a decade. He is also a regular member of Land of Kush and has recorded with *Matana Roberts* and Thee Silver Mt. Zion.
