Jesse Colin Young (1941–2025) was an American singer-songwriter from Queens, New York, born Perry Miller. He fronted *The Youngbloods*, whose 1969 recording of 'Get Together' became a defining anthem of the 1960s, and wrote songs such as 'Darkness, Darkness' for the band. His solo albums of the 1970s, including 'Song for Juli', 'Light Shine' and 'Songbird', established him as a warm-voiced, genre-blending songwriter drawing on folk, blues, jazz and country, and he continued recording into the 2010s.
