A trombonist renowned for his incredible technical agility and smooth, fluid style, which set a new standard for the instrument in the post-bop era. Knepper is most famous for his long, fruitful, and often turbulent association with composer Charles Mingus, appearing on landmark albums like 'The Clown' and 'Mingus Ah Um.' His ability to flawlessly execute Mingus's complex compositions and contribute brilliant, logical solos made him one of the most respected trombonists of his generation.
