Biography
Joe Pass (1929–1994) was an American jazz guitarist whose fluency made him a byword for the instrument. After addiction and prison nearly ended his career, he rebuilt it in Los Angeles in the 1960s and flowered in the 1970s on #Pablo Records#, where his unaccompanied 'Virtuoso' (1973) set a new standard for solo guitar. He recorded extensively with *Oscar Peterson* and *Ella Fitzgerald* and led his own groups from 1962 onwards.
