Biography

Last Exit were a free jazz quartet formed in 1986 by guitarist Sonny Sharrock, saxophonist Peter Brötzmann, bassist Bill Laswell and drummer Ronald Shannon Jackson. Mostly documented live, on 'Last Exit' (1986) and 'The Noise of Trouble' (1986) for #Enemy Records#, plus the studio set 'Iron Path' (1988), their improvised music was louder and more violent than almost any jazz of the period. The band dissolved after Sharrock's death in 1994.
