Biography
Link Wray (1929–2005) was an American guitarist whose 1958 instrumental 'Rumble', built on amplifier distortion and the power chord, laid the groundwork for punk and heavy metal. A musician of Shawnee descent from North Carolina, he recorded with his Ray Men, cut the cult album 'Link Wray' in 1971, and influenced generations of guitarists with his raw, physical attack.
