L'Rain

Biography

L'Rain is the musical project of Taja Cheek, a Brooklyn-born experimentalist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer. Her genre-defying sound is a collage of styles including soul, psychedelia, jazz, and musique concrète. Her music often explores themes of grief, change, and joy. The project began with her 2017 self-titled debut, 'L'Rain', released on #Astro Nautico#, which was created partially in response to the passing of her mother. Her subsequent albums on #Mexican Summer#, including 2021's 'Fatigue' and 2023's 'I Killed Your Dog', have received widespread critical acclaim for their intricate, shape-shifting compositions and deeply personal yet universal themes, solidifying her status as a vital voice in contemporary experimental music.
