Marcus Roberts

A pianist who came to prominence as a key member of Wynton Marsalis's ensembles in the 1980s. Roberts is known for his virtuosic and encyclopedic command of the entire jazz piano tradition, from stride and blues to modern post-bop. His own work as a leader, particularly his album 'Deep in the Shed,' showcased his ability to synthesize these historical styles into a modern framework that was deeply rooted in the blues and the polyphonic traditions of New Orleans.
