Biography
Tokyo-born guitarist and composer, a central figure of Japanese fusion and city pop. Takanaka played in *Flied Egg* and the *Sadistic Mika Band* before going solo with 'Seychelles' (1976); 'An Insatiable High' (1977) and 'The Rainbow Goblins' (1981) made his bright, samba-inflected guitar style famous. In 2000 he founded his own label, #Lagoon Records#. His catalogue has ridden the worldwide city pop revival to a new generation of listeners.
