Biography
Medeski Martin & Wood are a Brooklyn jazz trio formed in 1991, with John Medeski on keyboards, Billy Martin on drums and Chris Wood on bass, a lineup that has never changed. Starting as an acoustic trio, they built an avant-groove sound from funk, hip hop and free jazz, broke out with 'Shack-man' (1996) on #Gramavision#, and spent 1998 to 2005 on #Blue Note Records#. Extensive touring on the jam band circuit and collaborations with guitarist *John Scofield* widened their audience beyond jazz.
