Biography
Michael Hurley was an American folk singer-songwriter whose gently surreal songs and Snock cartoons built a devoted cult following. He debuted on #Folkways Records# in 1964, made the beloved 'Armchair Boogie' and 'Have Moicy!' in the 1970s, and recorded for six decades, influencing generations of lo-fi and freak-folk musicians before his death in Portland in 2025. His hand-drawn album covers and Snock cartoons are as beloved as the songs themselves.
