Biography
San Francisco band founded in 1966 by Jerry Miller, Peter Lewis, Skip Spence, Bob Mosley and Don Stevenson, unusual for having five singer-songwriters. Moby Grape's 1967 debut is a psychedelic rock landmark, but management disputes and mental illness broke the original line-up; reunions have continued for decades, led in recent years by Lewis and Mosley. Critics routinely cite the debut among the greatest American rock albums of the nineteen sixties era.
