Biography

Out of Focus were a German krautrock and jazz rock band formed in Munich in late 1968 by guitarist Remigius Drechsler, organist Hennes Hering, singer and saxophonist Moran Neumüller, drummer Klaus Spöri and bassist Stefan Wisheu. Taking their name from a track on *Blue Cheer*'s 'Vincebus Eruptum', the band blended rock, jazz and psychedelia with socio-political lyrics and signed to the Munich label #Kuckuck#. They released 'Wake Up!' and 'Out of Focus' in 1971 and the double album 'Four Letter Monday Afternoon' in 1972, the last expanded to eleven pieces with horns. Dropped by Kuckuck, the group recorded a fourth album in 1974 that stayed unreleased until 'Not Too Late' appeared in 1999, and drifted apart from 1975. Drechsler, by then the only original member, wound the band up in 1979 and joined *Embryo*.
