Biography

Photek is Rupert Parkes, a British drum and bass producer born in St Albans, England. After early 1990s releases as Studio Pressure, Aquarius and The Sentinel, he developed Photek's signature sound of forensic breakbeat editing, minimal arrangements and jazz-tinged atmosphere. The 'Natural Born Killa' EP and the 1997 album 'Modus Operandi' made him a central figure in intelligent drum and bass. Later based in Los Angeles, Parkes expanded into film and television scoring, including 'How to Get Away with Murder', alongside further Photek releases.
