Biography
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky was a Russian composer of the Romantic period whose music is among the most popular in the classical repertoire. He was the first Russian composer to make a lasting international impression. His works are celebrated for their tuneful melodies, rich harmonies, and vivid orchestration. Tchaikovsky's most famous compositions include the ballets 'Swan Lake', 'The Sleeping Beauty', and 'The Nutcracker', the '1812 Overture', his Symphony No. 6 'Path茅tique', and the opera 'Eugene Onegin'. His deeply emotional and personal style bridged the gap between Russian nationalist sentiments and Western compositional traditions.
