Biography
Ravi Shankar was a world-renowned Indian sitar virtuoso and composer, celebrated for popularizing Indian classical music in the West. Mentored by *Allauddin Khan*, he became a global ambassador for his culture, influencing a vast array of musicians. His iconic performances at the Monterey Pop Festival and Woodstock, and his close association with *George Harrison* of *The Beatles*, were pivotal in bridging Eastern and Western musical traditions. Shankar's work extended to composing for films, including Satyajit Ray's acclaimed 'Apu Trilogy' and 'Gandhi', earning him global accolades. His legacy is carried on by his daughters, sitarist *Anoushka Shankar* and singer *Norah Jones*.
