Biography
Baltimore-born guitarist and singer Robbie Basho (1940-1986) turned the steel-string acoustic guitar toward Eastern raga, Native American imagery and devotional song. Recording for *John Fahey*'s #Takoma Records#, he made 'The Seal of the Blue Lotus' (1965), 'Zarthus' (1974) and 'Vision of the Country' (1978) in near obscurity. His open tunings, modal improvisations and mystical songwriting made him a posthumous influence on the American primitive and psychedelic folk revivals.
