Biography
American singer-songwriter from Glendale, California, born Leslie Ann Phillips in 1962. After four Christian pop albums as Leslie Phillips, she relaunched as Sam Phillips with 'The Indescribable Wow' (1988) and made literate, string-laced pop records including 'Cruel Inventions' (1991) and the Grammy-nominated 'Martinis and Bikinis' (1994). Later work turned spare and cabaret-like on 'Fan Dance' (2001) and 'A Boot and a Shoe' (2004), while her long stint composing for Gilmore Girls made her voice familiar to television audiences.
