Biography
Silverchair were a Newcastle trio of Daniel Johns, Ben Gillies and Chris Joannou who became the most successful Australian rock band of their generation. Formed in 1992 and discovered through a national demo competition in 1994, they released five studio albums between 1995 and 2007, 'Frogstomp', 'Freak Show', 'Neon Ballroom', 'Diorama' and 'Young Modern', and every one reached number one in Australia. Their sound travelled from teenage grunge to orchestral art rock before the band entered an indefinite hibernation in 2011.
