Biography
Cuban singer-songwriter from San Antonio de los Baños and, with *Pablo Milanés*, the defining voice of Nueva Trova. After early work in the Grupo de Experimentación Sonora del ICAIC, his albums 'Al Final de Este Viaje' (1978) and 'Unicornio' (1982) carried songs like 'Ojalá' and 'La Maza' across the Spanish-speaking world. His intricate guitar work and metaphor-laden lyrics made him one of the most influential songwriters in Latin American music.
