Biography
Kentucky singer-songwriter who fronted *Sunday Valley* before breaking through with 'Metamodern Sounds in Country Music' (2014). 'A Sailor's Guide to Earth' (2016) on #Atlantic Records# won the Grammy for Best Country Album, and later records moved through rock, bluegrass and western concept albums. Simpson's baritone, psychedelic streak and open contempt for Nashville convention made him the modern standard-bearer for independent-minded country music.
