Biography
Suffocation is an American death metal band from Centereach, New York, formed in 1989 and widely credited as pioneers of technical and brutal death metal. Led by guitarist Terrance Hobbs, the only member to appear on all nine studio albums, the band built its reputation on 'Effigy of the Forgotten' (1991) and a run of albums for #Nuclear Blast#, most recently 'Hymns from the Apocrypha' (2023). Their music pairs guttural vocals and downtuned guitars with complex time changes, rapid riffing and breakdowns.
