Biography
T. Rex was a British rock band formed in 1967 by frontman Marc Bolan. Initially a psychedelic folk duo named Tyrannosaurus Rex, they achieved fame after shortening their name and pivoting to a more electric sound. As pioneers of the glam rock movement, T. Rex dominated the UK charts in the early 1970s with a string of hit singles including 'Hot Love', 'Get It On', 'Telegram Sam', and 'Metal Guru'. Their landmark album 'Electric Warrior' and its follow-up 'The Slider' defined their sound with fuzzy guitar riffs, cosmic lyrics, and undeniable pop hooks. The band's run of massive popularity, dubbed "T. Rextasy," ended with Bolan's tragic death in 1977.
