Biography
New York trio the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion (Jon Spencer, Judah Bauer and Russell Simins) played bassless, blues-warped rock from 1991, peaking with 'Orange' (1994) and 'Acme' (1998) on #Matador Records# before a hiatus in 2018. Their raw, theremin-laced take on blues and rockabilly made them one of the defining live acts of 1990s American underground rock. The trio never used a bass player, on stage or on record.
