Biography
The King Cole Trio was the jazz combo led by pianist and singer Nat King Cole from 1937, with guitarist Oscar Moore and bassist Wesley Prince, later Johnny Miller. Its drummerless piano, guitar and bass lineup was novel in the big band era. Signed to #Capitol Records# in 1943, the trio had a hit with 'Straighten Up and Fly Right' and helped establish the label, before Cole's solo singing career eclipsed the group in the early 1950s.
