Biography
The Left Banke was an American baroque pop band formed in New York City in 1965. Teenage keyboardist Michael Brown wrote most of their songs, sung by Steve Martin Caro with bassist Tom Finn and drummer George Cameron. Released on #Smash Records#, 'Walk Away Renée' reached number five on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1966, and 'Pretty Ballerina' was also a hit. Their string laden sound helped define baroque pop. Brown left before the second album, 'The Left Banke Too', in 1968, and the group disbanded the following year.
