Biography
The Lijadu Sisters were Nigerian identical twins Taiwo and Kehinde Lijadu, a singing duo whose close harmonies and Afrobeat, funk and reggae fusions made them stars in 1970s Nigeria. Their four Afrodisia albums, 'Danger', 'Mother Africa', 'Sunshine' and 'Horizon Unlimited', were made with producer Biddy Wright and addressed corruption and women's lives as readily as love. After moving to Brooklyn and retiring in the late 1980s, they returned to the stage in 2014; Kehinde's death in 2019 ended the duo.
