Biography
The Orb are an English electronic group formed in London in 1988 by Alex Paterson and Jimmy Cauty. Pioneers of ambient house, they fused dub, ambient textures, spoken samples and science-fiction imagery into long, immersive tracks. Paterson, the only permanent member, led the group to its commercial peak with 'U.F.Orb' in 1992, and has continued the project with partners including Kris Weston, Thomas Fehlmann and Michael Rendall across more than three decades of albums and live performances.
