Biography
The Ramsey Lewis Trio was a Chicago jazz group led by pianist Ramsey Lewis, formed in 1956 with bassist Eldee Young and drummer Red Holt. Their swinging, gospel-tinged piano trio sound crossed over to pop audiences with 'The In Crowd' (1965), 'Hang On, Ramsey!' (1965) and 'Wade in the Water' (1966). After Young and Holt left in 1966, Cleveland Eaton took over on bass, with Maurice White, then Morris Jennings, on drums.
