Coventry band The Specials, formed in 1977 by Jerry Dammers, led the 2 Tone ska revival with 'The Specials' (1979), 'More Specials' (1980) and the number one single 'Ghost Town' (1981). Singers Terry Hall and Neville Staple fronted the classic line-up. The band split in the 1980s, revived from 1996, and ended with Hall's death in 2022. 'Encore' (2019) was the band's first album of new material in decades.
