Biography
The Sugarcubes were an Icelandic alternative rock band from Reykjavík, formed in 1986 and disbanded in 1992. Fronted by Björk Guðmundsdóttir and Einar Örn Benediktsson, with Þór Eldon, Bragi Ólafsson, Sigtryggur Baldursson and Margrét Örnólfsdóttir, they mixed post-punk, avant-pop and surreal humour. Their debut 'Life's Too Good' (1988), carried by the single 'Birthday', was the first Icelandic album to succeed worldwide, and Björk went on to become Iceland's bestselling solo artist.
