Biography
Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats is an English doom metal and psychedelic rock band formed in Cambridge in 2009 by singer and guitarist Kevin R. Starrs, performing as Uncle Acid. The band's occult themes, vintage production and cult imagery evoke late 1960s and early 1970s heavy rock. 'Blood Lust' (2011) built an underground following, and 'Mind Control' (2013) and 'The Night Creeper' (2015), released on Rise Above Records, widened their reach. After further lineup changes brought in drummer Jon Rice and bassist Justin Smith, the band issued 'Wasteland' (2018) and the Italian soundtrack-styled concept album 'Nell' Ora Blu' (2024). The band tours internationally and has built a reputation for theatrical, ritual-like live performances.
