Biography
Zoot Sims (1925-1985) was an American tenor saxophonist celebrated for his swinging, Lester Young-rooted style. He played in the big bands of *Benny Goodman* and *Woody Herman*, where he was one of the 'Four Brothers' of the Second Herd, and later co-led a long-running quintet with *Al Cohn*. A prolific recording artist for labels such as #Prestige# and #Pablo#, he remained an archetypal freelancer, welcome in almost any band, until his death in New York.
