Album Notes & Community Reviews
A three-disc compilation, 'The Complete Decca Recordings' collects all 63 recordings Count Basie's orchestra made for Decca between 1937 and 1939, including 'One O'Clock Jump' and 'Jive at Five'. The band's rhythm section of Basie, Freddie Green, Walter Page and Jo Jones backs soloists including Lester Young, Buck Clayton and Harry 'Sweets' Edison, with vocals by Jimmy Rushing and Helen Humes. The Penguin Guide to Jazz placed the set in its Core Collection and awarded it a Crown.
