Album Notes & Community Reviews

Released against the band's wishes by their former label to capitalize on their rising independent success, 'Ecstasy and Wine' compiles My Bloody Valentine's formative mid-1980s EPs. The collection captures a fascinating transitional phase, bridging their initial, jangly C86 twee-pop roots with Kevin Shields's burgeoning experiments in deafening, pitch-bent guitar distortion. It serves as an essential, raw prequel to the atmospheric density they would perfect on 'Isn't Anything' and 'Loveless'.
