Rifts
by Oneohtrix Point Never
Acting as Daniel Lopatin's expansive breakthrough, 'Rifts' is a sprawling compilation gathering his highly limited, synthesizer-based trilogy of early cassettes and LPs. Heavily indebted to 1970s Berlin School electronics and sci-fi soundtracks, the project utilizes looping, decaying arpeggiators to craft vast, profoundly nostalgic cosmic landscapes. The massive collection effectively jump-started the modern analog synthesizer revival and deeply informed the emerging vaporwave movement.
