Hot Rocks (1964-1971)
by The Rolling Stones
Released shortly after the band transitioned away from the Decca/London label to establish their own imprint, 'Hot Rocks' was assembled by former manager Allen Klein to monopolize their 1960s catalog. Despite its contested origins, the double LP remains an impeccably sequenced overview of their artistic maturation from a gritty rhythm and blues cover band into defiant rock and roll avatars. It continues to stand as the most popular and essential compilation in their extensive discography.
