Album Notes & Community Reviews
Compiled by the esteemed Soul Jazz imprint, this anthology brilliantly documents the highly fertile, cross-pollinated downtown scene of late-1970s New York City. The tracks capture a brief, exhilarating moment where abrasive No Wave musicians, early hip-hop pioneers, and avant-garde disco producers actively collaborated and shared nightclub spaces. Featuring groups like Liquid Liquid and Bush Tetras, the collection highlights the aggressive, heavily rhythmic collision of punk rock and urban dance music.
