Often cited as one of the most vital foundational texts of the first-wave black metal movement, this brutally primitive recording violently rejected the polished speed metal of the era. Tom G. Warrior's guttural grunts and the suffocatingly sludgy, detuned guitar tone paved the direct aesthetic pathway for the extreme metal underground. Shortly after its release, the core duo dissolved the controversial project to form the legendary avant-garde metal outfit Celtic Frost.
