This early release provides a fascinating glimpse into the band caught directly in transition between their bright, C86-indebted jangle pop roots and their impending noise-rock mastery. The jangling guitars are notably submerged in heavy chorus effects and nascent waves of feedback, actively hinting at the massive, overwhelming shoegaze wall-of-sound they would soon perfect. Despite Kevin Shields' later dissatisfaction with the final mix, it remains a vital document of their rapid sonic evolution.
