Representing the second installment in a series of conceptually linked EPs, 'Heat Haze' shifts the band's cinematic focus from the cold night to the blistering desert sun. The instrumental tracks employ shimmering pedal steel and warm, hovering organ drones to replicate the mirage-like distortion of extreme heat. The record stands as a posthumous tribute, incorporating synthesizer parts recorded by Gary Leib shortly before his death.
