Gravest Hits
by The Cramps
Produced largely by Big Star's Alex Chilton, this sleazy, reverb-drenched debut essentially codified the psychobilly genre. Lux Interior's deranged vocal hiccups and Poison Ivy's minimalist, fuzz-laden guitar work warped 1950s rockabilly through a trashy, B-movie horror lens. It perfectly captured the campy, confrontational weirdness of their legendary early performances at CBGB.
