Album Notes & Community Reviews

Widely cited as the foundational recording of the goth subculture, 'Bela Lugosi's Dead' was recorded live in a single take. The composition is built around a descending, dub-influenced bassline and sparse, delay-drenched guitar effects that emulate cinematic horror suspense. Peter Murphy's theatrical vocal delivery invokes the iconic Dracula actor, cementing a camp-yet-sinister aesthetic that defined an entire subgenre.
