Only Acting

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Initially presenting as a breezy, twee-pop melody, this track famously devolves into terrifying, ear-piercing digital noise and glitching cd-skips. The structural bait-and-switch perfectly mirrors the lyrical themes of performative identity and the exhaustion of maintaining a public persona. It marked a massive aesthetic pivot for the band, signaling their transition from pure electro-pop into noisy, guitar-driven indie rock.
