In the Afternoon

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Released independently following their departure from Columbia Records, this standalone single fully leans into the aesthetics of 1980s post-punk and goth. The composition features a slow, creeping tempo driven by heavily chorused guitars, funereal organs, and deadpan vocals detailing existential dread. It signaled a surprisingly dark and satisfying stylistic detour for the band at the very end of the decade.
